The OGTC, based in Abingdon, has been in existence for over twenty years and is now one Oxfordshire's most respected amateur drama companies. We originally started life based in Abingdon's Old Gaol building (hence the group's name) but no longer have any connection with that building.
We normally produce three plays a year in the Unicorn Theatre, part of Abingdon's beautiful and ancient Abbey Buildings. We also put on productions for festivals and have a full programme of theatre trips, play readings (normally the last Thursday of each month) and various other social events. As well as taking three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, members of the group have also appeared in Inspector Morse, Shadowlands, and in the BBC drama-documentary series Crime Limited.
Why Not Join Us?
Our friendly and informal group meets most weeks on Thursday evening at the Abbey Centre on Audlett Drive, Abingdon. New members are always very welcome. If you're interested in participating in any of the group's activities, whether it be acting, helping backstage, costume or poster design, or just lending a hand during the run of a show, then do please email the or come along to the Abbey Centre on a Thursday at 8 pm – see the map for directions.
